Do you love Ubuntu like we do? You are interested in development in general? You enjoy detective work? You don’t mind reading a bit of documentation and you are a team player? Excellent!
Ubuntu is developed in an open fashion where everybody is welcome to contribute. This means you can fix an issue, get your change reviewed by an Ubuntu developer and get millions of people to benefit from your work.

Many kinds of activities make up Ubuntu Development. There are:
- Writing apps for Ubuntu.
- Maintenance of packages, which is a lot about acting as an ambassador between the Ubuntu project and others, keeping the packages up to date and without bugs. Ensuring packages are well-integrated into Ubuntu is of great importance.
- Work on Ubuntu for all devices, the new interface family designed to work beautifully and easily across many form-factors.
- Working on core parts of Ubuntu. Many free software projects were born within the Ubuntu project and form the basis of Ubuntu and other distributions.
Others work on the integration of certain parts of Ubuntu, like the 100 Papercuts Project, who try to make the general user experience of Ubuntu a pleasure.
